Hi all,

My daughter, who is born in the US, but is a Canadian citizen by being my child, recently got into University of Toronto, and applied in early March for a citizenship certificate. We provided all the required items including the checklist, and of course proof of payment. Based on the instructions, we also included a letter, proof of acceptance to the school, and the necessary markings on the envelope to request urgent processing.

The mail records show that the application was received around March 15. However, we've received no AOR, and searching for the application by various personal data on the website returns no result. We've also not received any incomplete application back in the mail.

Is this to be expected because of the labor issues? Or has her application disappeared entirely into the ether?

We're of course also applying for a study permit - but given that we paid for the citizenship certificate, I am wondering what our recourses are.

Thanks in advance!

This is normal to the best of my knowledge. Processing times for citizenship certificates are around a year right now.

If you haven't heard from them by now, then I suspect they have decline the ask to process the certificate urgently and your application is in the normal queue.
