Hi,

I am almost ready to submit my documentation I do have some questions which I hope you can help with. I am currently going through the checklist and it's asking for the following information.
A copy of the applicant’s passport and the stamp made by a Canadian authority. The passport was not stamped on arrival – will it be okay to send a copy of the passport without
this?
They also ask “Indication of status in Canada” – we are out of status but we have no documentation to that effect. What should I do – would a letter indicating he is out of status be sufficient?
Thanks in advance for all your help and best of luck to everyone 

Hi,

My husband and I are experiencing the same issue - he is an American Citizen and entered Canada via Toronto Pearson Airport on July 1st of this year, and his passport was not stamped on arrival, so we can't send a copy to show his "proof of status." Unfortunately, he doesn't have his boarding pass from this flight. We are applying for inland spousal sponsorship.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue successfully? We are thinking of just including an explanation, along with his flight itinerary, but we are also considering requesting a "Travel History Report" from CBSA that would show all of his entries into Canada. This request can take up to a month, and we would like to send our application next week. We could also request the history report, include this in our explanation and see if CIC requests it.

I have a feeling we are worrying over nothing, as from what I have read, stamping passports upon entry to Canada is becoming a thing of the past, but we just want to avoid any possibility of having our application returned.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Jess

Send all other pages that have been requested.

As for being out of status, write a letter to be enclosed with the application, stating the form number it relates to, and explain why you have no status. You can also explain that you have no passport stamp here too.

The CBSA and IRCC will have electronic records of any admission made into Canada.

It won’t make any difference whether you have stamps on entry or not. Seems to be that some CBSA officers do, some don’t. IRCC and the CBSA will have all admissions on record anyway. If you want to be really thorough, you can write a brief letter explaining the lack of stamp and enclose that with the relevant form.
