I STARTED WORKING FROM JAN 2009 AND STILL WORKING IN A JOB THAT IS LISTED IN NOC CATEGORY REQUIRED BY CIC. NOW FOR FIRST SIX MONTHS I WORKED 24 HOURS PER WEEK AND AFTER THAT I STARTED WORKING 40 HOURS PER WEEK. SO IN ORDER TO FULFILL 3900 HOURS FOR TWO YEARS, DO I HAVE TO SUM ALL THE HOURS AND CHECK IF I HAVE HIT 3900 HOURS? MY JOB STATUS IS STILL PART TIME BUT I AM WORKING 40 HOURS PER WEEK. MY NEXT QUESTION IS IN THESE TWO YEARS I GOT LIKE IN TOTAL APPROXIMATELY 140 PAID HOURS OF VACATIONS, IS THAT COUNT IN WORK EXPERIENCE. I MEAN COMPANY GAVE ME 140 HOURS OF PAID VACATION TIME.....THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLYING

1) First 6 months @ 24 hours per week - I'll assume 26 weeks (you should count the # of full weeks and adjust this if necessary)

26 (weeks) *24 (hours/week) = 624 hours

624 hours / 37.5 = 16.64 weeks or 4 months (full-time equivalent).

2) Any week you work at least 37.5 hours counts as 1 full-time week. So 40 hours per week = 1 full-time week.

You need 20 months of full-time work experience in addition to the part-time experience.

3) Don't worry about paid vacation - you are still employed, that still counts as employment!

Thanks for Reply...
just a quick question that if i am working 40 hours , don't i have to add 40 hours or it doesn't matter if you work more than 37.5 they will count it a 1 week or 37.5 hours . Because i am wandering that if i will add these 40 hours from past months definetly it wil increase my work expereince hours. Like 37.5 in 1 year will be (37.5*4*12=1800 hours) and 40 hours will be (40*4*12=1920 hours)

Nope. You can't "increase" your work experience that way :) Sadly, others have tried and found out the hard way, by having their applications rejected.

Remember, it's a MINIMUM of 2 years full-time experience or the equivalent. Full-time is defined as "at least 37.5 hours." So whether it's 37.5 or 40 or 80 hours per week, it's the same week of full-time employment.

CEC has 2 streams - one for temporary foreign workers (TFW - requires 2 years of work experience), one for post-graduates (requires 1 year of work experience). The OP is a TFW, hence, 2 years.
