Hi,
Recently one of my friends told me her story for trying to obtain a BOWP, both she and her husband had applied for PR under PNP with her as the dependent, her husband had a closed work permit so they applied for BOWP through the same lawyer that was handling their PR, unfortunately the BOWP application got rejected, she said that CIC told them that because her husband's WP was a closed one and BOWP is an open one, it is not possible to convert or extend the existing closed WP into an open one without a "No Objection Letter" from her husband's employer.
I have never seen such requirement, and I am a little concerned because I am also on a closed WP and I have applied for BOWP using my CEC application.
Any thoughts on this?
P.S.: Oh, and in case you were wondering, fortunately and with almost perfect timing, my friend and her husband got their PR approved and they are now landed.
