NO MONEY - Zero chance of visa?

Hello, I'm new here! ;D

I'm a Canadian currently living in Thailand, and I'm looking to bring my girlfriend who is from Thailand to visit Canada. We would be traveling together from Thailand, and returning back to Thailand together. She is now applying for a TRV.

In some aspects her application is strong, in others very weak. I'm looking for what you think her chances of approval are, and any advice would be appreciated. We haven't submitted it yet.

What we have, the positives:
- She's registered in a 5 week intensive English program at the University of Winnipeg, deposit paid and she has the acceptance letter. It's s short-term program, so a tourist visa is needed.
- Flights for both of us, fully paid including return flights back to Thailand.
- We both work at the same company here in Thailand. She is my assistant. The company will provide an employment letter/history for both of us, and approval of the travel.
- We'll be staying with my family in Winnipeg. My uncle will provide financial support, with his financial documents. Him and my mom will be providing the invitation letter.

And the negatives:
- She doesn't have a lot of money. She's an English teacher (currently looking for a teaching job while employed at the company mentioned above) with a bachelor's degree, but her salary has never been high. She has around $800 in her bank account as of now to be exact.
- Not many ways to show ties to home. She doesn't own property. No investments. Basically just the job at my company and her family who live in a village near Chiang Mai. She's very close with her family, but we don't know how to show that with documentation.

So what do you think? Plane tickets are bought and she's paid/registered for the school, too late to turn back now! (and she couldn't magically have a lot of money, even after a year or two).

1. The visa officer will assess your g/f's socio economic ties. While you support and that of your family is helpful it will not overcome any issues with the ties.

2. On paper this is a classic easy bounce. No funds ($800 doesn't even cover the flight), no assets/property, no travel history, weak family ties (they prefer you to be married and have kids since you are more likely to return home), seemingly shaky/non steady employment and with a Canadian citizen b/f. What's to stop you both clanging your minds when you get to Canada, quitting the jobs and getting married will be likely on the VO's mind? Who paid for the course and how much is the course? What's her annual salary in Canadian Currency? How long has she worked as your assistant?

3. It sucks for nationals of less developed countries that need TRVs to travel to Canada. Unless they are in the small minority of the rich so the political class or business its usually very difficult yo get a TRV. Add to this the risk/suspicion of claiming asylum/refugee status usually based on statistics and it just stacks the odds against these nationals.

4. In my opinion if your relationship is at the stage you are both serious then you are better off cancelling the visit plan and going common law/marriage and sponsoring her under the Family Class. But hey you never know she may get lucky and get a TRV.

I brought my GF/Common law with me from Indonesia. Similar situation, limited funds, no real documentable ties to Indonesia, etc..... Initially we applied for a single entry visa (don't think they even ask that any more). Prior to that, we made sure she had a travel history to other countries in the region (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia) and that she never overstayed the period she marked on her immigration cards. I supplied a letter of sponsorship, stating I would ensure all costs were borne by me during the trip and add you only want a single entry visa while you are at it.. Make sure you can show she has travel/medical insurance (and buy it in Canada, it's cheaper). The return tickets will help. She got it with no issues.
Later we applied for another single entry....same circumstances, got that one too.
We finally applied for a multi entry about a two years ago. Got that one and she's been back and forth about 11 times total now, No one even bats an eye at her any more. She's been into Canada on at least two occasions on her own.

Ignore the ridiculous comments on getting married...there is no pre-requisite that anyone needs to be married to enter Canada and it's likely more of a red flag if you get married and suddenly book a trip home (the whole marriage of convenience thing).

What kind of company/job lets two employees leave for 5 weeks at the same time?

What is her travel history?

Being "close to her family" is not a tie.
