I wanted to apply for citizenship in may, so for the purposes of keeping it simple lets go with may 1st 2020, meaning an eligibility period of may 1st 2015 to may 1st 2020.
Timeline:
Problem is however, I do not have that old passport anymore, I only have the new one. I know I can write a letter of explanation explaining this, which I intend to do but I'm wondering how much problems this will ultimately cause. Technically if i do not account for the time I had the old passport so that would be between may 1st 2015 to January 16th 2016, the number of days present in Canada does not change. I'm wondering, if that's the case can I just claim only the time spent in Canada under my new passport? Or do you have to claim all 5 years even if some of the time isn't relevant.
Thanks for the help.
