Hi all,

I thought I'll share my story here, since there are many questions about this topic on the forum for the canadian experience class.

When I applied for the PR under CEC I was only able to get a reference letter of my current employer. My previous employer didn't want to provide a reference letter. (I started with my current company 6 month ago)

I included following documents of my 'old' company to my application in order to proof my work experience:
- letter of explanation
- record of employment (ROE)
- employment agreement
- job description
- previous work permit
- all pay stubs

Looks like I was one of the lucky guys and my AOR arrived today. Hopefully everything works out with the remaining steps on my application.

With that being said, my job description is pretty straight forward and there is not much room for interpretation. I think that was one of the main reasons why most of the applications without a reference letter get returned.

This is certainly no assurance that everybody's application will be approved, but I posted this message to show that it is possible with a little extra effort and a detailed explanation on why you are not able to provide the required letter.

Good luck everybody!

hi tr001,
congrats on your AOR :) although getting an AOR does not mean that your application was found eligble without a reference letter,it only means that all forms are included, signed and all documents are included.
your file now will be transfered to CPP-OTTAWA and an immigration officer will verify and assess your eligibility based on experience and language.
keep trying with your old employer if you can get a reference letter as per CIC checklist then scan it and email it to to cpp-ottawa if not then just keep praying that you will get a favorable outcome.

good luck :)
