citizen of mongolia. lived in the us for 10 years starting my high school days. graduated in the US as a mining engineer. i now own my own business here in mongolia. 5 years of experience. no job offer. with the current down turn of mining industry not likely to get one soon. but don't really need a job in Canada. I can fly in and out of canada for work. just want to raise my kids in Canada. what is the best way to go about it? also do i have to take the language test?

I hoped that i may not need to convert my us diploma through a credential agency and no need to take the language test. i guess i was wrong cause i just got an immediate denial from MyCIC. saying Profile Ineligible

Province/Territory Nomination No nomination at this time
Review of Minimum Entry Criteria Not Met
Federal Skilled Worker Not Met
Provincial Nominee Program Not Met
Canadian Experience Class Not Met

please share your opinion and i appreciate your time

Thanks

Re: no job offer in Canada. don't really need one. just want raise my kids in Canada

You don't necessarily have to have a job offer to immigrate to Canada, but you do have to meet the requirements and apply through one of the immigration programs listed in the link below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

As long as your children are 18 years old or under, they can be included as dependents in your application. Yes - you have to take the language test if you want to immigrate. No - it doesn't matter that you attended school in the US.

Note that once you have PR status you must live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years in order to keep your PR status.

thank you for the advice.

so i guess i do have to take the test and convert my diploma through an approved credential agency as well then. i thought usa and canada have pretty much identical education system, therefore everything should click,

i guess not.

thanks again

I started off as a mining engineer, but now I run my own company. I do not have a job offer yet. I'm planning to apply FSW. Express Entry. Should I apply as a senior management or mining engineer? Which one is more likely to get approved? and what about provinces? Interest towards certain provinces get prefer-ability over some popular provinces?

Thanks
