Hey Guys, I have question if you can answer it, i will appreciate it!
I read in some website that Canadian PR holder can apply for NEXUS card! and also it say if you are work permit/student Holder you need to provide that document! So does it mean if you are a work permit holder, you are eligible to apply for NEXUS card?
Thank You?

All I knew that you have to be either US/Canadian Citizen or PR for NEXUS eligibility. This is still true I believe but after I researched a bit, it confused me as well. Here is why:

It states in the Information Guide (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5084-eng.pdf):

If you are working or studying in Canada or the United States, you must provide one of the following documents:
  • a work permit; or
  • a study permit.

But it also demands everywhere that:

To be eligible for the NEXUS, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada or the United States.

[Ref: (1) http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/elig-admis-eng.html
(2) http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/goc/nexus_highway.shtml]

I too look for some insight.

I just emailed CBSA in that matter. I'll keep you guys posted. I am in Canada on a work permit as well, and
really like to get a NEXUS pass.

Ok I am not an authority but as I read your posts it seems that you would HAVE to be a citizen or PR of either US or CANADA. Secondly, if you were working or studying in the country in which you did not hold citizenship or PR, you would have to show the legitimate reason why you were there, either work or study. So......I don't think a temp worker or student from countries other than US or CA would qualify for NEXUS. But, I am prepared to be wrong.

You don't qualify unless you are a US citizen or US green card holder.

That's what I got from CBSA:

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) answers general questions about the programs and services it offers. Please note that the following elements are removed from incoming e-mails:

· personal information or information related to specific personal cases or specific business cases (This includes home and business addresses, passport numbers, credit card numbers, NEXUS membership ID numbers, and departmentally assigned case or file numbers.);
· attachments;
· hyperlinks;
· offensive language;
· requests to process a change of address;
· requests to forward e-mails on your behalf.

If you included any of the above in your e-mail to the CBSA, that element has been removed.

You may only qualify to participate in NEXUS if you are a citizen or permanent resident of Canada or the United States and have lived in Canada and/or the United States continuously for the last three years.

You may not qualify if one of the following applies:

· you are inadmissible to Canada or the United States under applicable immigration laws;

· you intentionally provide false or incomplete information on your application;

· you have been convicted of a serious criminal offence in any country for which you have not received a pardon (for U.S. background checks you may be questioned about your full criminal history, including arrests and pardons, which may exclude you from NEXUS);

· you have a recorded violation of customs, immigration or agriculture law; or

· you fail to meet other requirements of NEXUS.

Effective June 30, 2012, Canadian and American citizens living outside of Canada or the United States or who have recently returned to either country and have not previously been able to meet the three-year residency requirement are now eligible to apply.

In addition, certain permanent residents are also exempted from the three-year residency requirement. For further information on any of the above, please consult Customs Notices 12-020 and 10-025.

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/cn-ad/cn10-025-eng.html

Both Canada and the United States must approve your application for you to become a member of NEXUS. If you do not meet all of the requirements, your application will be denied.

Should you require additional assistance, we recommend that you contact the nearest NEXUS Enrolment Centre. A directory is available at:

Also, you may contact the following NEXUS Canadian processing centres during regular business hours:

· 1-866-496-3987 for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba residents

· 1-800-842-7647 for Ontario and United States residents

· 1-866-399-5887 for Quebec and Atlantic residents

Should you wish to obtain more information on NEXUS, we invite you to consult the Canada Border Services Agency Web site at:
