Nexus Card But No PR Card?

I don't understand the relationship between Nexus and a PR card. I have already once traveled using a Nexus card with an expired PR card. It was inadvertent, since I didn't realize that my PR card was expired. That's because you don't need to show your PR card or passport with normal Nexus clearance. I thought that this would be impossible since the PR Card is a supporting document for Nexus.

My question is whether I was just lucky or whether I can travel only using the NEXUS, even with the PR card?

i'm guessing you applied for your nexus card with your us passport? more likely than not, the system will have connected your pr status to your nexus card, so there's no need to show it upon entry. that's what the nexus card is for.

having an expired pr card doesn't really mean anything. your pr status is still valid, it's just the card that needs to be renewed. if you are concerned about traveling without pr documentation, take your COPR with you as well as the exired pr card until you get a new one.
