Hi everyone

If all goes well, I will be landing in Toronto on June 1st with my family.

I am well aware of the 2 weeks mandatory quarantine but thought I'd ask for advice from those who have already landed during these troubled times and who might shed some light on some of my questions.

I am planning to book an AirBnB for a month, first 2 weeks in quarantine and the next 2 weeks looking for a place to rent, open a bank account etc...

Now speaking of checklist, I'd like to know what I can do directly upon landing, and what I can't do until week 3 of my arrival in Canada

1 - CoPR approved at airport. I am assuming this process hasn't changed. I show my documents, proof of funds etc, then need to give a mailing address to the officer. I can still give a friend's address correct?

2 - SIN : Cannot be done in airport anymore as Service Canada offices are closed. Can only be done online. I took a quick look at the online application and it seems we need to mention a mailing address now. Considering my Airbnb address is temporary, does this mean that I will need to wait UNTIL I rent a place to apply for SIN ?

3 - Bank account opening. I am with HSBC right now and have started the process of opening an account with them already in Canada. Process again is taking time and am not even sure if the bank account will be "active" before I visit a branch there... It's still a good option I guess as I was told you need a SIN in order to open a bank account in Canada. Considering point 2 is problematic until I find a place, then I hope this won't block point 3.

4 - Health card : I am assuming this is also done online now AND tied to SIN...

5 - 2 weeks of quarantine : any advice on the best Apps/websites to order groceries from ? And do they take cash? Else I will be keeping my credit card but would like to know if foreign credit cards work with apps here as my billing address won't be in Canada...

6 - We will be bringing our cat along. She's fully vaccinated and I will bring all typical documents (rabies etc...) Will she be allowed in immediately or are pets put in quarantine separately?

7 - Anything else I need to keep in mind? Any advice at all from personal experience of those who landed in the past weeks is welcome...

I noticed in other threads plenty of people doing their best to discourage people from travelling during these difficult times, but this is not the type of advice I am looking for here, just clarifications on the points above.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, same process, now they will ask you to fill out a form for each member for tracking purposes and confirm you have a place to stay and arranged for groceries and medication.

If you manage to get formal mail delivered to you address (bank, telecom) you may be able to, try to find a mobile carrier that will activate a line or a bank to send you some correspondence.

CIBC has an option and I am looking into it right now.

You can call and activate, go to OHIP web page (Toronto?)

Just ordered last night from Grocery Gateway by Longos, expecting delivery tomorrow.

Several animals yesterday, didn't see any specific issues with them

7 - Anything else I need to keep in mind? Any advice at all from personal experience of those who landed in the past weeks is welcome...

Just landed yesterday, this is weird but it's my research so far.

Thanks for your replies

Can you elaborate on

What do you mean exactly by that? I will be spending at most a month in the Airbnb to get a fixed address asap.
I just need to know if during that time I will be able to apply for SIN as mentioning an address is now mandatory in their online application

Thanks
