Hello,
I wonder if anyone is able to offer any advice, both me and my partner are in the UK, we would like to consider immigrating to Canada in the future but as this is a big step for us we would like to try working and living there for a while first, my question is this, How do we go about getting jobs in Canada as well as housing, I am a book-keeper and have 30 years experience at this but no formal qualification in the field and my partner works in construction as a site manager, any advice would be extremely helpful as I am going in circles and making myself dizzy.
Thanks
June

Start your reading here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp or for working http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp
To work in Canada you would have to find an employer who is will to get a labour market opinion from HRSDC (Service Canada) after advertising the position for 2 weeks on the job bank. Service Canada would only issue the LMO if there are not Canadians/Permanent Residents available for job, the wages are norm for the area. It would be difficult to obtain for a bookkeeper with no formal qualifications. Your spouse if s/he has a trade, may have more luck.
