Hi All,

I'm having some issues and would love some help!

I am in the process of gathering my documents for my Express Entry submission, but this is taking a lot of time and I doubt I will have it completed before my current Work Permit expires. I have duel citizenship (British and Irish passports) and my current work permit is on the British Passport.

I was planning on getting another Work Permit on my other Passport while I gather the documents and get my PR application in order. My logic was that this new permit would allow me to work a further year or two, get more points and therefore increase my changes of getting approved for PR!

I have ran this by my lawyer (I decided to pay for one for the PR) and he has told me that this is a risk and could jeopardise my PR if my new permit get rejected as it will show on my file as a rejection.

I can't understand why he would think I would get rejected as I've been in Canada for almost two year with no issues. Also, I have checked the Canadian Immigration website and it states that it is absolutely available for British and Irish citizens to do this.

Would love some advice on this because it's driving me mad!

Thanks,

Conor

A work permit rejection will have no impact on a PR application as long as the rejection is declared in the PR application.
