Hi, I posted here a month ago seeking some information about the process of applying for a new study permit to change schools. I logged into my GC key account and started a new application and I answered a series of questions and two options were displayed study permit (inside Canada) and Temporary resident visa. I applied for study permit inside Canada and submitted all the documents including the IMM 5709 form. On the ircc website it says that I should get a new permit by applying to extend my current one but I don't know if I applied for an extension or a study permit from inside Canada. I'm very confused because the processing time for extension is approx 112 days and study permit from inside Canada is 3 weeks. I applied over 5 weeks ago and if I applied for a study permit from inside then I should've heard back from them. Can someone please help me this. Thank you for your help in advance. My post is very lengthy and I'm very sorry for that.

How did you qualify to apply for a study permit from Canada? Did you send the application to the US? What is your citizenship?

I qualified to apply because I wanted to change my dli and according to the new rules those who want to change their school after coming to Canada should apply for a new permit. No I am not from United States I'm from India and I just clicked on start a new application in the GC key portal and answered the questions provided as I mentioned in my original post.

I completed one semester and I'm currently enrolled in the second semester at my current university. Because this is a relatively new rule not many people have answers to all the questions and the ircc website just mentions you have to get a new study permit by applying to extend your current one. It's very confusing the wording of it they mentioned a new study permit and extending the permit in the same line.
