New Skills to learn in 2.5 years

Hi all,

I'll be hopefully moving to Canada in 2.5 years, we're waiting to hear back from Nova Scotia PNP and although we're successful, we'll land first and return to UK till my husband finish serving his full Army career before moving for good. This will be in 2.5 years' time.

I'm worry about the job situation out there as I don't specialise in a skilled / professional job. I've been moving around the country and abroad due to husband's military career so never have opportunity to develop a career.

I've a degree in Hotel and Tourism and would like to get back to this industry, I don't mind to start at the bottom but unless I go to Vancouver area or more touristy area, job opportunities are not great especially Nova Scotia.

So, with 2.5 years left, I would like to see what courses I can take to get some specialise in demand skills and hopefully get a better pay job out there? I'm thinking something I can learn part time (as still working part time now), doesn't take up years to learn and don't cost a fortune (like uni tuition fees).

Will IT skills be a suitable one? I even think of trade skills like plumbing etc. but not sure if a woman plumber will be equally in demand? ???

Any advice will be much appreciated! :)
