To make things even more confusing, they forgot to update the other part of the CEC website:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

that one still doesn't state "continuous".

But if you look at the "last updated" date at the bottom it's 1st Jan (as of writing this), while the other one is '2nd Jan' , which is more up to date, thus from now on CEC will have to be gained continuously.

where does it say the work experience has to be continuous??
I'm wondering about that too. If anything, the following page states that the work experience need not be continuous under the CEC:

Work experience need not be continuous under the CEC.

Keep in mind though that to obtain Canadian work experience points under CRS, one need have one year of continuous work experience, so it is possible for some applicants to qualify under CEC, yet claim zero Canadian work experience points under EE.
