landed on April 5 and received a photo renewal request on May 17. Sent the photos on June 20, still no PR cards.
I have got a familly emergency so I am back to my country since 17 May and I have to come back to CANADA. I have been told that there is a new law saying that if I spend more than 6 month outside I could lost my PR status.

Please let me know if there is a new law about that!!
I am really desperate

There is no new law, and no indication of a new law coming. However told you that has absolutely no clue what they're talking about.

If you want to travel back to Canada without your PR card, you'll need to apply for a PR Travel Document or will need to enter Canada via USA land border.

A very long time ago there was a 6-month rule. This has long been repealed. Maybe the person was remembering from too long ago?

1. Only 15 years ago, (6 month rule ended in 2002 with new Act)The rule was if you remained outside Canada for more than 6 month in any one year, with the INTENTION to Abandon Canada, then you could lose your PR status. Very few ever lost their PR status, as is it almost impossible to prove intention.

I think in the request there is a limit of 30 days to send the photos, I think you exceeded that limit, please give them a call.
