New passport before biometrics request

Hi everyone,

we submitted our application in mid November. After that my wife had her passport renewed. AOR came in on Dec 15, the biometrics request on Dec 19 and I was approved as a sponsor today. I honestly did not expect things to move this fast.

Anyways, I called the Visa Application Centre in Berlin today and explained to them that my wife has a new passport and that we still have the old one but it is no longer valid. I asked them if we should bring both and they told me I should ask the embassy. I called the embassy in Berlin and they said I should talk to the embassy in Vienna (did not reach anyone). I also contacted the IRCC through their webform, but I am not sure they are going to answer (application within processing time). I cannot call them as I am outside Canada.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I do not want to make the trip to the Berlin VAC without knowing if they are going to accept my wife's new passport.

Ok, so yesterday I got a reply to my message:

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
If you have an application in process and would like to provide additional document(s) (e.g., newly renewed passport), we invite you to:
Fill out the IRCC Web form available on our website,
Choose the applicable option located in the drop down menu under the heading Enquiry, and
Include: the information/document(s) in question, and a brief description of the situation in the Your enquiry box.
It will be at the responsible office's discretion to determine if the request is approved.
Lastly, we invite you to bring both the old and new passport at your biometrics appointment.
