New LMIA or extension?

Hi

my husband had an lmo for 2 years from 30 nov 13 - 30 nov 15, but because his passport expires sept 2014 the work permit was only issued until then.
Do we need to apply for the new LMIA, as the lmo would have now expired, or do we apply for an extension to the current work permit on the grounds it would have been given until 2015 if his passport was not due to expire. We do now have the new passport. im sure the officer at the border said he would note the system but not 100% if he did it or not.

If as you wrote it your LMO is valid until Nov. 15 then you can apply for a new work permit using the same LMO. Shouldn't be an issue as the passport expiration was the limiting factor.
