Hi guys. Im new here.
I've just started the ball rolling on my application. Ive been an auto mechanic for over 6 years. I'm applying for the FSW I have booked an IELTS for march. I'm just a bit concerned if I submit my application in the next couple of months will it automatically be put into the new scheme for May 4th?
Or not. This is all very confusing. The application seems to contradict its self in certain parts from the instructions to the actual form. :-[

And do I need a Job offer to apply for FSW.
On the website it says I do?
Very confused and disheartened right now

If you have no job offer, then you can't apply until May 4th. No job offer = no choice but to wait until May 4th to submit your application. If this is your situation, then yes, your application will be processed under the new rules.

Hi,

I had replied to you in another forum. You have given more details about your situation here. So, I will reply to you again. First and foremost, you have to know that CIC has not given out complete details about the new FSW beginning in May. A couple important details are:

1. We don't yet know whether there will be an occupation list or all occupations under NOC O,A, and B will qualify.
2. We will need to get our educational credentials assessed by an appointed canadian assessment agency. CIC has not yet given out names of such agencies.

All you (and we) can do at this point is wait until such details are announced. You can still continue with preparing for the application cause that will save you time in case your occupation becomes eligible for the new FSW, but also keep in mind that it might not turn in your favor.

CIC stopped taking application for FSW program in July of 2012. So currently, the application is open only for people that either have a job offer in Canada or are applying through the PhD stream. So, the information and application packet that CIC has in their website currently is for people applying through the above mentioned criteria. They don't have such information for the new FSWP on their website yet. Hence, to apply under the new FSWP, you won't need a job offer.

And lastly, no you cannot send in you applications now if you don't already have a job offer. because:
1. you don't even know if you are eligible to apply (in terms of your occupation)
2. You do not yet have your educational credential assessed, hence your application would be incomplete
3. even if you did have the above 2 things, CIC wouldn't accept application before May 4. If they did, then their quota would be filled even before the date the application is supposed to begin due to scores of people waiting to apply since last year. We are all patiently waiting!

My personal advice to you is, if you can, try to find a job offer in Canada, or get nominated by a province. Based on previous occupation lists, I think that the chance of auto mechanic being in an occupation list (if they decide on having one) is very slim. This is strictly my personal opinion though! So, don't get discouraged.

Hope this helped!

Hi. Thank you for your reply. So what do you think I should do. Have my application ready to send on may 4th?
In the meantime try get a job offer? What's the likely processing time if my application is ready for may 4th.

I read a lot of other post and people have been waiting for processing times for years? I don't understand why some people have waited like 3,4 years for a visa.
