NEW FINGERPRINTS REQUIREMENT

According to the CIC webstite.

"Starting July 31, 2018, you may need to give your fingerprints and photos (biometrics) when you apply for a visitor visa, study or work permit, or permanent residence if you are from Europe, the Middle East or Africa."

For anyone applying from the UK it would mean visiting the VFS office in London in person to have their prints taken.

Can anyone confirm that this just applies to new applications after this date?

Although I have no inside information historically when immigration implement new rules applications in process before the implementation date have tended to be exempt which may be the case here. This is on the basis that to implement a change on applications being processed would be a nightmare resource /admin wise and also carry an extra cost.

Note there will be exceptions post the implementation date
