Dear All,

I'm a Indian Citizen and Canadian Permanant Resident. My Wife is an Indian Citizen. I want to Sponsor my wife for Canadian Permanant Residency. Can you tell me how long the entire process takes starting from the day the application is submitted in Missisagua?

The reason why I want to know is because if the whole process takes long time like 6 months I want to know if I can apply for temporary resident visa for my wife and then when she gets her PR she can come back to India and take the PR

Thanks

The processing depends on case to case. If it is a straight forward case like no FBI, RCMP clearances required or if you already have those handy then the normal time frame should be between 4 to 6 months for the entire process.

Yes you can apply for the TRV for your wife before filing the PR application because if you file along with the PR application in progress, chances are there that the immigration Officer might deny the TRV but however it is not mandatory that they will reject it.

Also Since your wife is an Indian Citizen and you are also PR(not canadian) so you cannot also file the application and start living with her in India, you have to be in India till the time application is under process.

Thank you very much for the information.

My wife was with me in the US for 1.5 years and so I need to get the FBI clearence for her. I know that FBI clearence takes around 2 months. But both of us are in India now. I'm going to canada in december and then file for her PR.

(a) Do you know how to get FBI clearence from India? I want to start the process now itself so that it the whole process would be done fast
(b) When we Initially submit the application do we need to get the police clearence/FBI clearence? I thought the FBI clearence can be got later on when the sponsorship is approved and submitted along with the medical clearence. Please let me know

Thanks

U mean FBI clearance in India? You just need to get police clearance certificate from India. Submit the POLICE CLEARANCE AND MEDICALS along with your application right at the beginning. Else it will take longer time.

You need to submit an FBI clearance since she lived in the US for more than 6 months. Have your fingerprints taken at a police station in India (ask for a fingerprint transmission form), and then send the form and payment of US$18.00 payable to The Treasury of the United States to the FBI. It is best to use a courier like FedEx, to ensure you know when the package was received.

Processing times for FBI requests is 12-16 weeks.

Dear All,

Thanks for the reply.

Since FBI Clearence in USA takes almost 6 weeks, can I send the entire application to Missisagua except the FBI clearence?I do NOT want to wait for 12 weeks to get the FBI clearence and then apply to Missisagua. I want to send the application to Missisagua now and let them process it.Once I receive the FBI clearence after 12 weeks I will send it to Canadian officials. If I have to wait for 12 weeks and then apply the entire process to get immigrated may take like 9 months, which is too long

Please let me know

Thanks,

Yea apply right now for PR and submit the FBI PCC once embassy will request you for the Passport. They will also request you the same with the 90 days timeline to submit the additional docs.
