Does any one know when the new immigration changes / reforms be in effect, I'm talking about bill C 24. I will be applying the end of June 2014

Honestly, why don't people do some research on here before posting a question which has already been posed here SO many times by now.

Please guys....we are not here to spoon-feed answers when they are already on here !

I spoke to an immigration consultant and told me a matter of months if not weeks

For this particular subject, please follow other topic (Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th) which is already open and ongoing discussion with all updates and comments..

Really, there are ways to track these things. The bill has to be passed and achieve Royal Ascent before it becomes law.

Immigration consultant has no special updates on the bill. Latest news of the bill-24 is in parliament website. As per Minister the bill is likely be become a law by end of 2014. But I think it may even take little longer as far too many complex issues to be dealt with by parliament, senate, royal ascent and Harper Govt. before the law comes in effect. Even if the bill passed by end of 2014 effective date still to be determined by governor council and then CIC has to update their software, computer systems, train staffs etc. etc..

The government has already increased the immigration fees without waiting for the drstic changes and recently the minister of immigration before he left the office, Mr Jason Kenney made lots of changes and he passed them without any readings, they could pass some of this bill but the whole bill may take time to be effective if it was passed

Harper is in election campaign mood.... You only need to see how the "fair election" bill is being rammed through parliament. I believe this bill will follow the same time line. I reckon the bill will become law oct/no this year.

I agree and I hope they delay it to the end of the year or to the next year, I hope they abolish it but they won't
