new born- immigration

Hi

I really browsed the forum but couldn't find info about my question, therefore please excuse me if it has been asked before.

I am a PR and havent settled in canada yet, I just got a good job offer and now planning to move Canada asap,but while i am entering the country i will be entering with my new born baby.

- should i call the embassy?
-can i get my baby a short - term visa after i land and after that i apply while i am in canada?

i guess all i need after this is to go cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

if anyone can give me advice that would be highly appreciated.

First of all, are you from a visa exempt country? If so, you can bring the baby without a visa and sponsor from inside Canada. If you need a visa to go from your country to Canada, then you need to apply for a visa for the baby. This could possibly be denied because the baby would have no intention of leaving Canada. Either way, you have to sponsor your baby for a PR from inside or outside Canada.

I assume you landed as a PR in Canada, and then moved back to your home country. Did you get your actual PR Card in the mail while in Canada? If you don't have actual card yet, you may also need to apply for a special travel document for yourself to get back into the country (if you are from a country that requires special visa for Canada).

In bringing your baby to Canada, depending on the province you are going there may not be healthcare available until your baby gets PR status. Make sure to arrange for private emergency medical insurance.
