Hi

I have recently applied for a work permit at the London consulate (long story, but we were unable to apply on entry as we couldn't travel to Canada before my positive LMO expired).

On my application I declared that I do not have any dependent children. However, my wife is set to give birth in November, so by the time we (hopefully) travel in March we will have our new boy - we will obviously be getting him a passport straight away.

My question is: do we need to let the London embassy know so that he can be added to my application/work permit before we arrive (and what potential delay could this add), or will he be able to enter Canada on a Temporary Resident's Visa extended to the duration of my work permit and/or can he be added once we're in Canada.

Also, what are the implications regarding healthcare - does he need to be registered on my work permit to receive state healthcare, or is simply having the TRV and living in Alberta enough?

I will be asking these questions to the consulate, but I'd like to get information from this forum also.

Thanks in advance!

Mark.

Hi - just to answer my own question, I did more research on gc.ca. Their web contact form page says it should be used to advise of important changes regarding the application. So I guess I'll wait until he's born before advising them and include his passport number etc. If I have received my work permit by then, I will do the same and see what they say.

It seems that they don't like being contacted!
