Outland applicant, American PA currently in Canada (intended to apply inland, mailed application to wrong address)
My husband received an email yesterday stating that, "For administrative purposes, [we] have been issued a new application number." We have no idea why this happened. I linked this new application number to my GCKey account and the status shows as "Submitted". The letter says that our original application received date has not changed, this is just an "administrative change in application number".
Our previous application number was still linked, and for that application I had completed and passed my medical exam and had received a biometric request. I have an appointment to complete this biometric request on Monday August 26 down in Seattle, WA. However, this biometric request does not show up as part of my new application number, nor does my completed medical exam. As of this afternoon, the previous application number now shows "Cancelled" for the status.
Has this happened to anyone else? And should I still plan to complete my biometrics on Monday?
I tried to call the IRCC helpline to ask for some clarification (once I saw the previous application had been cancelled) but they were too busy to even put me in a queue to talk to an agent both times I called
