I live and work in Netherlands (I am from India), have a pretty good job as software developer in Amsterdam. But, now contemplating to move Canada. Despite Netherlands being a great country, somehow not so happy with being here. Not able to pinpoint the exact reasons for unhappiness, but one being lack of motivation to learn dutch, other being quite difficult to integrate with the dutch people and third being going up the career ladder needs dutch at some point(despite english is working language in my company). On the other hand I believe my work life balance will deteriorate more in Canada compared to NL (37hr/week and that’s it,no over times). Dont know if its just a grass is greener on the other side syndrome! Any suggestions or ideas are welcome

I am from India and living in the UK for the last 7 years. Decided to get Canada a shot after Brexit happened. Netherlands may follow soon. There is lots of uncertainty in Europe. You need to decide what's important to you. You will need a good working knowledge of Dutch to qualify for citizenship or permanent residence. IMO learning Dutch isnt as easy as French.

I don't see how you ever can be integrated if you don't want to learn the local language?
