Hi all,

I am a 24 year old male, currently at my last year of University studies in New Brunswick.
I came to Canada 3 years ago, hoping to gain a profession and be able to apply for a PR.

Recently, I found that Family Sponsorship is a possibility.
I have an uncle living in Ontario that has been here for 35 years, and is willing to sponsor me.

My questions are:
1. Am I (24 year old nephew) eligible for this category?
2. How long is the processing time for this usually takes (no numbers on CIC website).
3. Will applying while on a study visa hurt me in any way?
4. Once I graduate, can I apply through other ways (experienced worker/provincial)? or am I committed to this?

I would appreciate any help.

The short answer is no, if your parents are living.

The long answer is only if your uncle has no other closer living family such as spouse, children, parents, grandparents, or siblings.

Chances are that uncle living in Ontario for 35 years has his own family now. So the uncle would not be able to sponsor him regardless even under the "alone" clause.
