My current situation: I am on H1B in USA right now and its due for renewal in Sept'2010 for which I have to apply in July. However, I recently lost my job and if I am not able to find a new job before July, I am afraid my visa will not get renewed and I may have to go back to India like in October'2010 after my current visa expires. I have send initial application for Canadian PR visa under FSW1 category last week on 2nd April'2010. I opted for Buffalo visa office as of now for processing my application.

My Question: Assuming that everything went smoothly without any unexpected delays, will I get an interview call on or before September/October this year? since I may need to leave for India after that time?

If not, what will be my options in case if interview comes after I went to India and my application was being processed in Buffalo office? ( I guess by the end of july, It will become certain for me if I will be going to India or not)

Thank You

Good Luck,

The processing of Canadian Immigration files is faster in New Delhi than in Buffalo.

hi
you will have 2 options:

1-you keep one sure address here in us that you can track and if you are called you can come back for the interview.
if you opt for this one that means you are sure to get a visa in india for usa.

2-or you ask to get your application transfered to india

but in this situation the best thing to do is to find a job and be able to renew your visa so you won't have to hassle.

you could post this under other topic so good people of this forum will come with a lot of light.

good luck

Den2can,i'm on H1B also, however when i applied i had Buffalo as my visa office but when i realized they're super slow in processing applications i switched to the consulate that handles FSW for my home country which is Ivory Coast, now my file is in "process".
i would suggest you choose your home country, stay away from Buffalo, they're swamped with applications.

The only problem with choosing Home Country as visa office is that if you get interview - you will have to fly back home- kinda hassle in a situation where you are still working in US.
But if you are still working in US and in no hurry to get your FSW to be approved and also no plan to move to Canada soon while you are still employed in US , i.e. you have job stability for a couple of years and H1B is not expiring in that time period, I think Buffalo is ok.
That is my 2 cent

If you have to move to India then you can request the Local Visa office to shift your case to New Delhi and it will be processed faster then Buffalo. This is as per the blog and information from Trackit

Thank you all for your valuable feedbacks!!

but any idea when should I expect an interview?.. just curious!!

It is hard to say how much time will it take. Have you received AOR yet?

I am on H1 and applied for FSW1 two days ago :)

@Canada77: Nop mate... I mailed them also two days ago and today i tracked the package is still in transit status. Do I get AOR as soon as they receive my application?

No. You don't. It could take upto 8-10 weeks (depending upon location) for them to issue AOR. We both boarded this train almost together. Lets see what luck has in store for us. Good luck to you dude.

U SAID U SENT UR INTIAL APP TO NS IN APRIL.....NOW wait until april-2011 when buffalo office will start processing....forget about medicals or interview....its better u should change your office now

@ ALL who replied ... thanks for sharing your views.. can I transfer the visa office any time? And if I transfer .. the new office will start process from scratch .. resulting in delaying in my visa process?

All other members.. please give your opinion.. all your views are very important for me..
