Hey guys

Need important Advice. I got my PR Card renewed back in 2011. In 2013 i visited INDIA and on my way back via US i came through Niagra border and i was pulled in for questioning. Even though i got my PR Renewed only in 2011 they started questioning me about my trip to India and did a PR assessment once again which was weird as i had got my renewed PR Card in 2011 itself.

Now i've been out of canada since July 2014 and returning next month. My PR Card is still valid till dec 2016. Can i enter without issues or will they again interview me. My total days out of canada stand around 900 in last 5 yrs since 2011 which is under the limit by 200 days but i would hate the hassle and the feeling u get while being interrogated. but since PR is still valid are they allowed to do these random Assessments. I know with last Government everything got messed up... I guess new government is more pro people.

Any Advice also suggestions whether its better to enter through Airport or through US via Car. Tickets to US are better plus i get to visit my extended family on way in.

If you have valid PR card and met RO then there is no problem to enter Canada.

But I'm carrying no documents with me to prove my stay. like my NOA is in Canada so are the bank statements. My last passport i lost while in india and have a new passport now... last passport had the stamp of entering india though had no exit stamp from Canada. my last noa was filed for year 2014 when i left canada and have been in india since. I'm around 900 days out of Canada. hope entry is trouble free. hate having to deal with iterogation and people who's suspicious of everything.

if i re enter i will have access to my tax documents and bank statements but at the border if they stop i will have no document. though back in 2013 i was stopped by cbsa on my trip back from buffalo and i was called inside the building for questioning but since my PR was renewed in 2011 they let me go after some basic questions.

Any advice whether to return by Air or Road for better chance of entering without much questions. Best Road border in terms of friendlier people.

Last time i was stopped at Rainbow bridge coming into Canada by a lady Immigration officer but she was nice over all after the initial come inside situation.

It's up to CBSA if they want to investigate further. Remember the dates on your PR card or when it was last renewed, is mostly irrelevant to your residency obligation. One can have a valid PR card, but not meet the residency obligations.

I would advise to have as much proof as possible that you meet the RO, just in case. Ask for your immigration entry/exit records from any country that you were in over last few years. Or show receipts from flights you took in/out of Canada.

Worst case is you will be investigated a bit by CBSA similar to your last trip, but in the end they should come to conclusion that you meet the RO.

I was going through my email to see whether I had itinerary from my last flight out of US but I don't have that email anymore. I flew out of USA back in July... I've ordered the NOA online but not sure if I will get this in time. Meanwhile I've been in Canada since 2000 and PR since 2005 I have never been stopped once on border untill 2013. That's shortly after my one month trip to India on my return from buffalo.
I was wondering why that time? As I have been to India almost every year since 2000 and never once faced this questioning.
Wondering what triggered it?? Also how can one not get profiled for this. What makes them to stop u and interrogate u. I think this was more so coz of previous government which seemed against influx of immigrants and what not!!!

Just any advice one should enter by air or road where they seem to scrutnize more people for this??
