My husband submitted his application of study permit since end March in the US, with the information of his legal presence in the US as F-1 student. The grace period of his F-1 will end by end August, and he has applied for change of status to be my dependent (I am a F-1 student in the US) in mid June. He is waiting to give his biometrics for his study permit application (which he will do next Thursday), thus his study permit application is still pending. Should he update the information about his change of status to demonstrate his legal presence in US via webform? Or should he wait until IRCC ask for it? I worry that legal presence in the US is an important criteria for approval a study permit and he will get denied if he did not update it.

1. Better answers if you post in an US Immigration forum.

Yes, he should provide info on his legal status in US

They do not ask about it but you are risking getting study permit refused by not giving those documents. It's up to you

That's true. But my husband also worry that to update this information now may lead to some confusion. Anyhow, his grace period in US will last until end August, and his application of change of US status is still pending, so he thinks perhaps he should wait and see whether he will get the approval of the study permit before that.
