I originally came to Canada in May 2010 and was given a single-entry visitor visa, was married in August 2010 to a Canadian citizen, and was granted an extension to my visitor visa until March 31, 2011. I was completely honest with the CIC on my extension application and told them I intended to apply for permanent residence by March 2011. However today I was informed that my grandmother died and I could not live with myself if I didn't go home for her funeral. I'm afraid that there is a chance that the border officers will not let me back in when I return. Is there anything I can do or should I have a good chance of being allowed back in if I explain the situation upon my return?
I'm so torn up and the thought of not being allowed to return to my home and my husband is just adding to my grief... and on Christmas Day...
Any help at all would be appreciated, even a phone number where I could call to find out would be wonderful.
Thanks in advance.
