Me and my wife are India citizens working in IT with 7 (2 years US experience) and 5.5 (2 years europe experience) years respectively. We are both undergraduates in engineering with my wife in Computers and myself in Production engineering. I have complete 30 years and wife is 27.5 years. Neither of us have a job offer from Canada but we are seriously looking for any options to move over to Canada, specifically Toronto. Could anyone help us if we are eligible for any of the immigration options available for Canada? If you have any questions, please send me a message. Eagerly waiting for some good insights so that we could start working on our process asap.

Hi Yousuf,

thank you for your quick respone. I have been through that website, all of those options require a job offer from Canada which we don't have right now. And if it takes 9 months to process the PR for Canada, then who would offer a job and wait for 9 months? May be I am misunderstanding something about the process over here, if you help me with that information, that would be very helpful.

Thank you for your advice.

Heyy,
Please check if your occupation is listed in the list of eligible occupations for processing under FSW 1 category (in absence of job offer) specified by the MI :-

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

I doubt if IT professions qualify for immigration :(

I checked the list, IT is not present on that list. :-(

I am not sure if my question is answerable on this forum, but I will put it out here:
If I take an admission to an MBA in Canada, can my wife accompany me and work, while I complete my education? Is that a possible option? I looked for the jobs for my wife's skill sets in Toronto and I found plenty of them, for me, I have less, so I can opt for MBA instead of directly looking for a job.

Any suggestions on this option?

Thank you.

Well, your proposition is quite debatable and many forum members may have different viewpoint on whether it is do-able or not?
If I were to be asked...I would say getting a Canadian MBA admission is not a difficult thing altogether, but landing a job is indeed a tough task...why dont u do 1 thing...let ur spouse hunt for a job...once she gets a good paying job, she can go on a work permit and u can accompany her on a study visa for ur MBA !
Hope that helps..
All the best

Hi ivn490,

pls check
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/index.html

To qualify for Quebec without an interview, pls enroll for French learning and complete A2 level certification.
You can do A2 in less than 5 months without much effort.
Its much easier and practical as compared to the proposed MBA route...

Yes there is no misunderstanding on your part... and u have understood it absolutely right that none of the canadian employers would offer u a job and keep waiting !!
Getting a job in canada while being applicant from your home country and your occupation not even in the list specified by the MI seems an elusive dream. To be able to get an AEO, an employer in Canada should offer u a job and wait for u to get a work permit/PR so that u should be able to work for him/her. On top of that the employer should 1st need to advertise the vacant post in Canada and only offer u the post once he/she has not received any suitable canadian candidate (either citizen or permanent resident) after specified period of advertisement and the position remaining open...(this is highly unlikely)
Secondly, the job offered to you should be getting a positive labour market opinion approved by HRSDC and there are also some financial inputs/declarations required from your employer to be able to offer u the post (the employer may not be comfortable divulging income and tax related details here in this case)
Hope that helps :)
All the best..

Your wife can apply to accompany you - but there's no guarantee she will receive approval. Unfortunately there are plenty of examples of on this forum of spouses who have been refused. Typically spouses are refused because CIC believes the couple's true intent is to remain in Canada long term.

Thank you all guys for your wonderful responses. It at least helps in getting a clear picture, even if puts us into more darkness than light. :)

Its a tough choice to make out there.

As learnt about this forum, it has been very helpful. The Quebec option gives some ray of hope, provided the CIC approves our petition. End of day, their decisions cannot be challenged.

I will hop back as soon as I have more questions or ideas to get some feedback.
