Hi all,

Planning to shift to Canada as a family comprising of 2 adults aged 36 yrs and 2 kids aged 8 yrs & 6 yrs.

I have applied for Express Entry as primary applicant and my wife as second applicant. Waiting for the call.

My wife works for an IT company and she can get work permit for Canada and have applied for that too.

1st question: In that case, is it ok for her to continue applying as a dependent applicant through express entry?

2nd question: In case before the PR call comes, if she gets work permit, should i update my profile as "spouse working in/ going to work in Canada" and remove her name from the dependent list?

3rd question:In case her work permit comes before the PR draw and i get a dependent visa, can i continue with my express entry application?

4th question: In case I get dependent visa on her work permit, what kind of jobs I can apply for? Full Time/ Part Time/ Contractual?

Thanks in advance.

Rgds,

Abhishek

1st question: In that case, is it ok for her to continue applying as a dependent applicant through express entry?

Yes. She can still be dependent in Express entry and PR application.

2nd question: In case before the PR call comes, if she gets work permit, should i update my profile as "spouse working in/ going to work in Canada" and remove her name from the dependent list?

No. Never remove your wife from dependent list.

3rd question:In case her work permit comes before the PR draw and i get a dependent visa, can i continue with my express entry application?

Yes.

4th question: In case I get dependent visa onher work permit, what kind of jobs I can applyfor? Full Time/ Part Time/ Contractual?

If you have applied for dependent worker visa, you can do any work. No restrictions.

But if you have applied for dependent visitor visa, then you are not allowed to work.

I am not sure what prompted you to ask the second and third question. Please be aware that a permanent resident is different from a work permit holder.

Applying for work permit will not get you permanent residency in Canada. For getting permanent residency, express entry application is required.
