Hello Friends,
Greetings

I am from Asia, last week I got PR visa (Immigrant status) and it will be valid till end March 2010, I think it will be no problem if I land Canada within that period (I am planning to come there at the first week of March 2010). Right now I am doing PhD in Germany and still I need three more years to finish. So, I need your suggestion whether I can come back to Germany after landing in Canada for about two years? After that I will be back to canada and stay three years regularly to renew my PR.

Please suggest me the best possible options.

S.N. How long it takes to get PR card after landing?

Best,

RD09

It take 1-2 months for PR card. I suggest land and take your PR and then return to germany for your studies. Keep continuo visiting Canada for keep alive your PR status.

After you have landed, the general rule is you need to be in Canada for 2 out of 5 years.
That means you have to be physically present in Canadian soil for 24 months within a 5 year period.
Its upto you how you want to break them up, but you need to have a total of 24 months before 5 years is up.
