Hi,

For express entry, me and my wife both have the max points we can get based on our age, education, ielts score and the fact that we have no canadian work experience.

I have 464 and my wife has 474, I am a software engineer in a fortune 500 company and wife is a recruiter in a small organization. Both these exist in the NOC list, but I may have a better chance in job search from outside canada.

What would you guys recommend, file for myself or my wife? Does any occupation in the NOC list have preference over the other?

What are the chances with a score of 474 or 464 in the upcoming rounds?

It is exceptionally unlikely that either of you will get a job from outside Canada !

Just create a profile for your wife.
If, by some miracle, you manage to get a job, then you can create a profile for yourself.
(Alternately, you can just create 2 profiles now, but frankly, I think it's a waste of time.)

No.

474 definitely has a better chance.
That said, though, no one can predict when the score might drop low enough for either of you to receive ITA.

As long as the primary applicant's NOC meets the requirement of the specific economic class (FSW/CEC/FST) under which you are applying, it does not matter whether the NOC under question is in demand or not. So, in my opinion go ahead and make your wife as the primary applicant as she is getting more points, as the chances of getting direct ITA would be higher with higher score. It will save you time, money and effort.

Now, with regard to finding a job, once both of you are PRs, you can look for jobs in your respective fields. Getting a job while you are outside Canada is hardly possible, unless you have niche skills and experience. The closest you can get to get an interview call is once you have landed in Canada. Meanwhile, lookout for all the companies which you would like to target, look at their career pages, LinkedIn pages, try to connect with people over LinkedIn, if you have any friends over there, try to see if they can introduce you to someone in their contacts which you can leverage once you land in Canada. Identify important job consultants, whom you can fall back on in case you do not succeed on your own. So once you land in Canada, you will be well equipped.
