I need some suggestion about my citizenship application. I have been living in Montreal since I first came to Canada. Following are the details about my file:
First came to Canada as international student : December 2005
Became PR: June 2008
Applied for citizenship: Feb 2011
File Received: March 2011
Start Processing: March 2012
Citizenship Exam: February 2013
After the exam I called CIC in May 2013 and they told me I passed the exam but I have to see a judge but the call center agent does not have any details about why I have to see a judge. They told me to wait until February 2014 for the non-routine application time frame. But still they did not schedule a hearing date by February 2014. I wanted to get some update about the reason why I have to see a judge. So in March 2014 I contacted the local MP office about my citizenship file. So they contacted with Montreal office and said that they are waiting for the date. I also requested detail information about my file through access to personal information act. So finally I got the reason why I have to see a judge. It says “Non-permanent residence time has been used in the calculation of basic residence and the original entry date used does not appear on the IMM 1000 or the confirmation of permanent residence”. As I understood, this is related to my landing paper and it is not my fault! The immigration officer should be responsible for it!
This is almost 40 months since I applied for the citizenship. It’s really long and still I don’t see any light. Can anyone please suggest me what can I do with my application.
