Hi,

My partner and I are sending our sponsorship application in the next few days. A few questions came to my mind while I was compiling them:
1. We currently have over 400+ pages and we included some bank statements. The bank statements for 6 months are already 150 pages. We're not really sure if these are required since it's not listed. We also think that 150 pages for bank statements would already be overkill and we would just want to reduce it to about 20 pages if these are required.
2. My partner provided medical/dental support for me and we are going to include the receipts. These are almost 50 pages. Should we reduce it?
3. We are sending tickets/receipts/itineraries/plane tickets/passport stamps of our activities as well and these are about 60 pages since the passport pages alone take about 7 to 8 pages (including information page) each. The plane tickets also have 3 to 4 pages (with fine prints and payment summary). Should we just remove the payment pages for the tickets?

We're not very sure as to how much is how much. We can probably reduce it to about 250 pages by removing some from the above bullets. Any guidance or tips from experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is a document checklist. Just follow it. No need to send anything extra.

No bank statement is necessary for family sponsorship. If you have tax return documents, that will be enough. Also the sponsor can add a job confirmation letter if doing a job. If not don't bother.

No need to send the copy of the passports. Just the copy of the ticket will be good. Exclude the payment pages.

You can send the copy of the medical/dental. It proves that you are in a genuine relationship.

We just sent our package today. We used the new forms. Keep in mind they limit photos to 20 photos and 10 pages of “proof” (we provided 14 pages). Our 14 pages of “proof” consisted of boarding pass photocopies with an explanation on the back, proof of each other as beneficiaries on retirement, stock/bonds account(s), social media chats, Christmas, birthday, and wedding cards from friends/family/each other. We also provided a notarized letter from my parents stating how our relationship is genuine and valid. Like I said we went a little over the limit but I doubt this will matter much. We also provided photocopies of passport stamps and explained what these were.

Keep in mind we wrote our names and signed the back of all paperwork which we added in. The CIC also wants you to write your name(s)/DOB on the back of each photograph, which we did.

We are USA/Canada so I know the proof limit may be a little less strict, but hopefully this helps you. Make sure you read through the document checklist and include what it says.

Thanks for the tips! I removed the bank statements and I managed to reduce it to 270 pages. We currently have 25 pages of photos and 30 pages of chat logs. I added at least 1 photo for each month and for each activity we did but of course I can reduce this. I was wondering for the chat log, should I still include chats from when we were already living together? I added some to show "continuity" and since it's been over a year, it adds about 5 pages to the log.

When we checked the new kit, we weren't actually very sure how to satisfy these points (as I'm currently on TRV):
1. Item 7 Checkbox 1.
1. Joint ownership of residential leases - my partner cannot add me to the lease the apartment is already owned and we think that non-citizens/PR couldn’t be added to the title.
2. Proof of utilities - Non-citizen/PR issue as well.
3. Address - Only parcels and some documents sent to us. Would the visa extensions count for me? We’re not sure of any other important documents with address.
2. Item 7 “Also provide the following” section. We’re not sure if we’ve included the documents to address these or if they are needed.

have you actually called the utility companies and asked for the visitor to be added to the bill or are you just assuming a person needs to be a pr/citizen to be added? in ontario, it's very easy to be added to utility bills as a visitor. it is not required for someone to be a pr/citizen to have a utility bill in their name. no SIN was required.

Hi CDNPR2014,

Yes, we did ask but unfortunately, they were asking for SIN.

Yes include all chat logs. Makes your relationship stronger. Provide enough photographs. If possible supply photos with friends and family.

Add a cover letter to explain why you can't provide point 1 and 2. If you have extended your visa at this address then it will work.
