Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this forum :)

I want to apply for a visitor's visa but I would like some pointers since I was rejected on 2015, here's my background.

On 2015 I was moving from Colombia to the US as my wife was transfered from her job, I have some family (an aunt and some cousins) I wanted to visit since I was moving to Chicago, and I was going to be fairly close to Toronto, where they live. I think I made the mistake to apply barely a month before I traveled to the US, I sent all the paperwork they asked, I applied through the Canadian Embassy in Colombia, the processing time was super slow, so slow that by the time I got to the US I got the rejection letter a week after I arrived to the US. Both my wife and I had decent jobs in Colombia, I submit an invitation letter from my cousin with a copy of his Canada ID, I described travel plans, I submitted copies of my passport, I've had 3 US visas in my old passport, and have travelled to the US at least 5 times in the last 7 years, never overstaying my visa, I even had a canadian visa when I was a kid and went to Canada for a month in 1992. My rejection was based, as most of them that I did not submit sufficient proof that I was going back to Colombia or whatever.

Right now I'm living in Chicago, both my wife and I have decent paying jobs, and are in the US on L visa, I just don't want to keep giving away money for nothing to the Canadian Government so if you guys can point me out on what would I need for a sure-shot application I would definitely appreciate it.

Apply as normal, your L1 should suffice to make it clear you do not have interest in immigrating (at least at the moment).

Hopefully your L1 visa has at least 1 full year in it AFTER your planned visit to Canada, the more time the better.

Submit company letter that shows salary, terms of L1 visa, and agreed period of "working" in the USA.

Full itinierary, booking and travel arrangements if possible, payslips for 3 months (at least) and some savings (1k per week in Canada) should make your life easier.

Good luck.
