Hi,

I am very new to this forum and I hope that I went in the thread.

I am a Mauritian who is trying to apply for the Permanent Residence as a foreign worker. I believe that I fit in the Canadian Experience Class as I have studied a diploma in a Canadian University and worked 2 years as a help-desk agent.

Now the problem is that even though I am bilingual, my express entry points only reach up to 420 points which is very low. I have thought of getting better points in my IELTS and TEF but I doubt that I will fit in the pool. (The last draw had a huge gap)

Is there any way to get more points other than going back to school? School is very expensive :(

Re: Need some help pls

Maybe you could share your IELTS and TEF score with us.

Also, what is your highest level of education you can claim points for?

Could better scores for language tests get you to 450+? That would be enough to have a shot in future draws as 450 has been the lowest cut off so far.

Other than that, you can look imto each province's PNP program to see if you would wualify for any of those. That would potentially add 600 points to your application and guarantee ITA in any draw. What is your primary noc?

As Andre said, you can look into PNPs. As a Francophone, these 2 are open, regardless of your NOC:

1. Ontario: Do you have a bachelor's degree (doesn't have to be from Canada, but you have to get an ECA if it is foreign)? Having at least a bachelor's degree and TEF and IELTS results can qualify you to apply to Ontario PNP's French Speaking Workers stream, which is open right now. Drawback, it costs an additional $1500.

2: New Brunswick: Francophones are priority 1:

Without a degree, you are unlikely to receive ITA, even if you get a few more points through a better language exam.

Have a look at the NB PNP program here:

http://www.welcomenb.ca/content/wel-bien/en/immigrating_and_settling/how_to_immigrate/new_brunswick_provincialnomineeprogram.html

With your French skills, you would be able to send in your expression of interest any time.
