I am currently in the process of sponsoring my child for Canada PR and need some guidance on certain points. This is a brief intro about my family situation.
Me and my wife are Canadian PRs since Dec 2016. I live in Canada and completed my residency obligations. My wife hasn't completed her RO yet, because she was working in the US for sometime. Though she used to travel to Canada frequently before pandemic, she couldn't travel last year during pregnancy and stayed back in the US. Now we have our child born in the US, and I have to sponsor him for Canada PR. My wife also got a job back in Canada now and leaving US for good. However, she needs four more months after Dec 2021 to complete her RO, assuming she is allowed to enter now.
So following are some of my concerns regarding the child sponsorship.
1. Since my wife will not meet her RO when I apply for child sponsorship, is it advisable not to add my wife as the co-signer on the sponsorship application. Will there be any compliance check on her PR if I'm the only sponsor?
2. I am currently not working, but we have savings in our joint bank account to show for my child sponsorship. So do I need to provide any additional authorization from my wife stating access to funds in the joint account for sponsorship.
3. On the sponsorship evaluation form IMM5481, under 'the family members included in undertaking in effect' question 6A, should I write 1 in the box for my spouse and provide her details at the end? Even though she is a PR, not sponsored before, and not financially dependent on me, should I add her details here?
