I'm a permanent resident and I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years now. I'm currently employed full time and making more than enough to support both of us. We do not have any children together. We do plan on getting married on day but we would live to get married and then spend our lives together in the same country. Since the Family sponsorship via marriage takes about 24 months for our visa office we are looking into the possible conjugal sponsorship. He has tried to visit twice before and been rejected for the TRV. At the time he was sponsored by a family friend and then an uncle. I just got PR so I haven't applied for a TRV for him yet, but I plan on doing so soon. I'm just wondering if anyone has been successful with the conjugal PR and if so what was you case like. ;D

From what I understand if you are physically able to get married and be together, you cannot apply as conjugal. And plus, it would be the same timeline for Family sponsorship regardless of marriage, conjugal, or common law applications. If you don't want to get married, you should try and live together for a continuous year before applying, and apply as common law.

Based on this, you would most likely be rejected for conjugal. Also if you have the ability to visit your boyfriend and get married, then there is no legal or immigration barrier for you to overcome.
