Need of study gap solution

Hi

I am thinking for further study in Canada (Jan 2014 Intake) and I have study gap of 1 year. After completing my degree I started self employment through Apple iOS developer contract. I am keen to apply as student but for study gap, some proofs are required. So I have some questions :

1) Can I give email prints of agreement sent from Apple Inc as self employment proof ?
2) Does "self employment" status make visa success rate low ?

Thank you. But I have surfed some stuffs and according to that I was little bit worried just because of "Self employment". Now I m quite fine. If you still have some information which makes relief, you can share. Any of suggestions are acceptable
