Hi if anyone can answer my question will be highly appreciable
My timeline
IP May 16
Location : Vancouver
Citizenship application : Single adult
I have not heard anything since my AOR/ IP which was in May, if any member can put light on it because i am getting little worried of not getting any Test/ Interview request neither being asked for any additional information by CIC, though i contact several times all they said that my file has being transferred to local office in june( might be surrey / Vancouver) . Is in my case the background is holding up the case or its normal.

Thanks in advance

Will give some idea as to how long Vancouver office takes. There is one person who sent the the application on the 16th May which was delivered on the 23rd. There is no indication that of AOR or IP, so I would not start worrying yet!

Mine was in process on April 4th and I just got the invitation to the test about two weeks ago.So it took them nearly three months. So I would not expect anything before August in your case. My office is Vancouver

I was in IP for over 5 months, look at my time line, depending on what country you came from, your clearance might take longer or be quicker. Mine took 5 months, my wife's took only 1 month (US citizen).

I think the processing time depends on lots of factors. Yes, how often you left the country, where you are originally from (officially this does not play a role, but frankly personally I do not believe it), how long you have already been in Canada, your personal circumstances and who knows what.

For instance I do believe that I might have an advantage as I am married to a Canadian, born in Vancouver, have three Canadian children (by birth) and have all my in-laws living here. My kids finished school here in Canada and are working here. It is hard to argue that I am not fully settled in this country and that I have not enough ties here.

I think it is important to be patient. Most of the applications are processed without problems.
Personally, I travel a lot to Europe due to my elderly mother, but it seems this did not affect my application processing time negatively.

I applied in March for citizenship and informed them at the beginning of May that I would be traveling to Europe for five weeks at the end of May and again for three weeks in September.

Shortly before my return at the end of June I got my test invitation for the 27th of July.

nice, how can we inform them about our travel dates? Would you mind giving us a sample draft and the address we should send that to? Also let us inform whether they responded back to you about that or not.

You contact them via their web form. Just send them your dates when you will be away. You only need to do this if you are away for longer than two weeks. I also attached my flight itinerary und a copy of my mother's passport to show her age and her address.
They will acknowledge receipt but be aware...it took them two months to tell me that they had put the information into their system.

Thank you for the info. Just wondering is it a must to let them know if we are away fro more than two weeks from Canada after applying? what do you think we should do this? Cannot we stay outside without letting them know? The reason, I ask from you is, that I havent travelled outside of Canada except for 17 days after becoming a PR. So will I be able to stay for the time within the PR maintaining time outside?

It says you need to inform them if you are gone for longer than two weeks.

I think this is a good idea so that they do not schedule the test or oath ceremony during your absence.

It is much more difficult if you have to reschedule on of the two as you will have to tell them why and then it comes out that you did not follow this rule...

Nobody says you cannot leave for a holiday or so, but make sure you get the emails/mail and you are able to come back on time.
