Hello, I live in San Jose am planning on visiting Vancouver for the new years. The processing time for Temporary resident visa is 14 days at the Canadian consulate at LA, so I am thinking of driving down to LA for the visa.
On the website, it looks like the consulate is open from 8.30-10.30am for visa applicants.
I need the following info before driving down...
1] Is it walk in only between 8.30 - 10.30 or are there appointments available also?
2] Will I get my passport back on the same day?
Any help is highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Neelay.

I believe that appointments are only available for consular services. Consular services are services provided to Canadians that reside or are travelling in forien countries, such as passport renewals, notarizations, etc. Visas and permit applications are on a walk-in basis only.

Download and print the application form in advance so you can take your time filling it out accurately. This way you'll aso be sure you have any needed documentation gathered together and with you when you go in to apply for the permit. Make sure you have photos that are within the proper specs.

I believe that even people usinmg the in-person/drop box service will encounter a 1 business day wait for processing.

Best of luck!

Did you ever visit the LA Consulate? Was your visa processed the same day or did you receive your passport in mail later?
Please post your experience.

Thx,
