NEED HELP!!work permit expires, PR in progress, but no job offer yet=(

My 1 year post - graduation work permit expires on 20th August, and I'm still looking for a job :-[

My permanent resident application is still in progress, they've already received my medical report in early August, it won't be too long, but I still have to wait till the end of september or early october to get the confirmation of PR.

What should I do now? how to restore my status? Am I illegal to stay in Canada while waiting for PR?

PS: I'm in Quebec，got both CSQ and CAQ

You can get a Bridging open work permit, which is exactly meant for this purpose i.e. people who have completed at least first stage of approval for PR but their current work permit status is expiring. Google it a bit. It does not require a job offer, hence is an open work permit
