Hi everyone, I’m in urgent need of advice. Myself and my husband are on workpermit in Canada, I’m pregnant. Can I apply my mother’s visitor visa so that she can provide care? She’s in India. How much funds will she show in her account? This is our first baby and we are by ourselves in Canada please suggest. If we can apply what will be the procedure? We have been to several agents but they’re all suggesting different things.

She needs a TRV. She also needs special authorization to travel. Biometrics are not available for her at the moment in India so she'd need to go to another country like Dubai or Nepal. There is no specific amount of funds that she needs but she needs to prove that she can pay for her travel expenses and time in Canada. She will also have to show that she has strong ties to India. International travel to other countries like the UK, US, Australia, etc. would help her application. Since you do have your husband with you in Canada you do have support so it's unclear if her trip would be considered essential. Pregnant women and infants are considered more vulnerable to covid and they have a lot of contact with the healthcare system. After the 3 day hotel quarantine she is required to quarantine in a separate area like a basement suite or an airbnb/hotel.

Thanks for your response, she won’t be able to travel to Dubai/Nepal. There’s no other way that she can get her biometrics done?

Unfortunately that is her only option for getting biometrics done immediately.

Otherwise she will have to wait until biometrics centres in India begin accepting visitor visa applicants again. Unfortunately we do not know when this will happen.

If she is able to somehow travel to Dubai or Nepal, that would be the best option.

Good luck.
