After successfully completing my studies in Canada. I applied for Post Graduate Work Permit in June 2018, said the application was approved in July 2018. The later week I received my work permit through the mail.
After reading that document carefully, at the bottom I noticed an instruction "THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY" at that time I was planning for a trip for immediate dental care due to a heavy toothache caused by decaying tooth as I don’t have dental insurance to cover my dental treatment expenses. Above instruction raised a question, if I go to India how will I suppose to return to Canada?
I took the same question to an immigration agent by calling on immigration helpline in the last week of July 2018 and explained my situation to the agent. At that time agent responded to me saying “as a valid work permit holder, I am eligible to travel to and from Canada multiple times.” I felt like this answer was incorrect so I searched in ‘CIC website’ but found nothing except one important thing, that is passport submission request from CIC comes directly in my online application inbox, and I haven’t received any such request at that time thus, I relied on agents an answer and heavy toothache made me book my tickets with Air Canada and I flew to India in September 2018.
When I tried to check-in for my returning flight to Toronto from Mumbai, Air Canada's ground crew refused to issue my boarding pass due to non-printing of work permit onto my passport.
I feel that there must be some confusion from either side at the time of speaking with an immigration agent, which resulted in a non-printing of work visa on my passport. Now I want to return to Canada.
I know, this is a huge error from my side and really feel bad about it. Spoke with immigration agents but one told me to reapply for a post-graduate work permit from outside Canada. In such scenario do I need to retake the medical test and repay the visa fees? and what's going to happen to my current valid work permit which will be expiring in 2019.
Another agent told me to contact Canadian High Commission in India. Already contacted the Canadian Embassy awaiting their response. ( I know this will take a while), so I'm waiting patiently.
If anyone of you faced the same situation and know any information regarding the same. Please share, any information is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
