Hello,
I have a valid Visitor Visa for Canada since 2018 and it is valid till 2022. My wife just got approval for student visa and we have planned to travel to Canada together on 19th February. Earlier when I booked a ticket I read on cic website that If you are travelling as a family member with International Student you don't need a visa. But now it has been changed on the website and now they are saying that, You can only travel if the student is dependent or with some medical condition.

Anybody is planning the same? or already travelled? Please help!

aWhen do her studies start? February is an unusual time to travel for a student. If you arrive too early you can be denied entry if you don’t have a reason for arriving so early plus additional funds.

So you need to show that your travel is essential during a pandemic and you may be denied boarding if it isn’t. Since you are a visitor (don’t have SWOP) you are not staying in Canada so have a return ticket to show you are getting your wife settled and then leaving.

Her studies already started and one semester is over. So I think that would be enough reason for her to travel, it won't be too early, in fact it is too late.

That is the thing, I am not quite sure about yet, how to prove that a husband is travelling with wife is essential, apart from marriage certificate and all and a return ticket.
Please let me know if you have any input.

Why do you need to go (with supporting documents). The reason on the website is to help your spouse get settled bcause she has a mental or physical condition. You need a medical note. So you need a reason why your spouse needs you with documentation.
