This is my situation. I live in Nicaragua. I meet my boyfriend in November 2020. He is a Canadian citizen. We started dating right away, and keep long distance since he left in May. Now I'd like to go to Alberta to spend xmas and new years with him. We met in Mexico last in August. I have no intention to live or reside in Canada as I am very happy in my home country Nicaragua. On th other hand he does want to come live here but because of work he cant. at the moment.
I'd like to apply for the TRV. He wants to send me a invitation letter with bank info, birth certificate . Should we say we are in a romantic relationship? or Should I apply as tourist? I will stay wiht him and food will be cover by him if I visit him.
This is my case
-I'm divorced
- I work as General Manager for a company here in Nicaragua dedicated to sustainable energy
-My salary is $1,400 per month but my bank does not show that income eveymonth. I have more or less $6,000 in my account
-I would like to go to Canada for 20 days
-Work can provide me with a letter of employement, vacation leave letter and their permits and registration
- I have a coulple properties,I rent a house and I have two employess at my house to take care of the house and garden
-2 cats
-I live close to the beach
I have a US visa and travelled to Europe,India and South america in the past 5 years
I have travelled to Canada in the past. Got visitors visa 2 times. Never refused. I was married back them. He's from the UK, Great friends now.
I want to appply only if i'm consider a strong case. I'm worry about refusal and damage my visa record. Is that a thing?I never been visa refused before but I would love to see my boyfriend since it will be our first xmas together and I'll get to meet his family.
When they ask on the application visit family or friends or tourism. What's the correct answer for this?
Any input is appreciated!

Without a reason to travel you are likely to get an automatic refusal given your funds. Joining a partner for the holidays gives you a reason to travel but doesn’t guarantee approval.

Thank you for replying. What are reasonable funds? and can you help me understand the reasons? I have vacation time from work that I'd like to take to see my boyfriend in Canada. No enough?

Just apply. Since you visited Canada before and have US visa, you will get it in 2 to 3 weeks, Travel history is important and you have already established your credibility by coming back.

There are no exact funds but between the cost of a flight and accommodations you would exhaust a large portion of your savings if you were coming for tourism. Are you vaccinate with Pfizer, Moderna, AZ or J&J?

In your experience looking at all the cases, what's the percentage of people getting visas approved through an invitation from their romantic partners not in common law? Perhaps is better for me to apply as tourist and just improve my funds

Whether you had been vaccinated by the 4 would determine if you can even enter Canada. There is no set amount but double the assets would likely give you a better chance. The other issue is whether there are concerns you will remain in Canada. Would make sure to provide enough proof that you will have to return home.

No stats and it really differs by the person’s profile. Think there will also be a lot of questions if you apply as a tourist. Uo to you as to whether you apply without an invitation letter or not from your bf.
